Alyson's Whole Body

Beauty in minutiae

One evening, I found myself looking at the top of my bare foot and noticing how light moved across it. It struck me that even during periods of intense body anxiety, there were parts of myself I had always found beautiful.

Whole Body grew from that realization. I invited volunteers to allow me to photograph their entire bodies in extreme close-up, focusing on small, often overlooked details. By isolating fragments rather than presenting the body as a single image, the work asks viewers to slow down and consider how beauty can exist in the minutiae we’re taught to ignore
