Closer

On touch, proximity, and trust

Closer emerged from the isolation of the Covid-19 lockdown. During a time when physical contact was dangerous or forbidden, I photographed people through the windows of their homes, separated by glass yet visually close. In that period of distance, I began thinking about what intimacy might look like once it was safe again.

When restrictions lifted, I shifted the series toward photographing close friends nude together, most often in quiet embraces against a classical draped backdrop. These images focus on platonic intimacy rather than sexualized nudity, exploring how bodies can share space, warmth, and trust without performance. The work is both a response to prolonged isolation and an attempt to reclaim physical closeness as something gentle, human, and unremarkable.
